Whether it’s a retail store selling ropes, or your own personal ropes at home, the best way to store your ropes is hanging them up in a climate controlled area. Coil them up appropriately, keeping the eye in the appropriate position, and hang it up where it won’t be frozen at night or sun baked during the day. Leaving a rope where the temps fluctuate greatly can allow the fibers to stiffen or soften while the temps change back and forth and it can also cause the strands (and eye) to twist.
