No – on either our poly or our nylon ropes. During our process we stretch our ropes and prepare them for use straight out of the box. Although a light stretch (6″-10″) would be acceptable if you feel it is necessary, you can actually damage a rope by stretching it. Here are a few things that can happen while stretching a rope:
- You can create a weak spot in the rope if you wrap it around something and pull too hard.
- If whatever you wrapped it around has a sharp / rough edge, you can damage/break single fibers and in turn cause the strand/rope to break.
- You can also stretch the natural coil right out of the rope so it will not coil back up and will be very wiry once it is released.
